Hey, STL users.
The 21st of June is the solstice, which means the beginning of Summer for us here in the Northern hemisphere. (For our Aussie friends and others south of the equator, it's the beginning of Winter.) I thought it would be a good time to do a week-long Twitter-based STL walking challenge. Use STL to track and tweet your steps for a week, and I'll tally them up. The person with the most steps for the seven day period wins.
Here are the rules:
- Have a public Twitter timeline

After a week of going round and round with Apple tech support, StepTrakLite is back in the App Store. No explanation of what was wrong, just a brief note saying they fixed it.
Hah! I'm thrilled. This was extended and incredibly frustrating, but at least its fixed.

Well, it's been over a week now. I've been going around and around with Apple support folks on a daily basis, and STL is still not back in the App Store. This has nothing to do with censorship, iPhone OS 3.0, or anything else that would make good sense. The itunesconnect portal says I need to execute an agreement, but the apple developer portal says I already have and won't give me the opportunity to do it again. And nobody seems to know what to do about this.
Needles to say this is incredibly…

Hey, STL users.
Just to let you know -- we found out today that Apple has yanked STL due to some kind of bureaucratic screwup relating to the customer agreement. (They say we need to accept the latest version, but when I try to it tells me we already have.) This came to my attention this morning and I'm still working on getting it sorted out. More soon, hopefully.

Hey, folks. I just got a direct twitter message asking me if this group was still active, and it reminded me that I've been focused on other projects lately and hadn't checked in.
StepTrakLite is very much alive and well -- right now it is being launched between 5,000 and 6,000 times a day, and the trend is increasing. We recently got positive press in USA Today and the San Jose Mercury News. Our promotion with MapMyWalk and the American Heart Association did very well, exceeding everyone's exp…

Hey, STL users.
With the release of 1.2.1 I wanted to invite our new and current users to introduce themselves. I'm Rich, a founder of the company that makes StepTrakLite. We've got about 4,000 people a day using STL on the iPhone and about 180 members of this forum. It's been awfully quite around here lately and I'd like to hear what's on your mind. So - post a blog and tell us what you think about STL and what you are using it for, what features you'd like to see, etc.

StepTrakLite version 1.2.1 is now available in the AppStore. This version includes an integrated help feature, and we're updating the documentation to better format on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
We've also got a new advertising partner who will be serving more relevant ads. Advertising is our sole source of income for STL so we hope all of you will upgrade soon and make our new advertising partner happy.

Those of us living in the colder, snowier parts of the world face some special challenges getting our winter walking in. Cold, snow, and ice make walking outdoors more difficult, but there are ways to stay comfortable and safe while exercising out of doors under winter conditions.
Cold may be the easiest to deal with -- cold you can dress for. When you walk at a moderate pace, you are generating about 2.5 times as much heat as you do when you are at rest, so you may need less insulation than yo…

If you live in the Fremont, Phinney Ridge area, and haven't already, I highly recommend taking a leisurely paced run along the shops, zoo, and awesome historic buildings on a Saturday. Twice a day, the alpenglo warms the grey skies as though someone spilled orange juice along the barren winter skies.

Good news, everyone! Version 1.2 of StepTrakLite is now available for download from the AppStore. This time around, we have added integration with
MapMyWalk.com, an online community where users can store training logs, routes and other exercise related information. Step counts and activity times can be uploaded directly to their site via the Log tab. We hope that you find this feature useful and strive to continue to improve StepTrakLite, so please feel free to…

Hey, STL users.
I've got a challenge for you. Let's see who can post the most total steps to Twitter during the first seven days of the new year. Just to be clear, I'm going to be playing too, so lets see if anyone can beat me. I'll be posting to
rdevaul.
Here are the rules. In order for you steps to count:
- Steps have to be posted from STL using the "Steps Since" message formatting. ("Steps in the last" makes it harder to determine whether step

Happy Holidays, STL users.
The weather in Boston is no fun right now -- we've had major snow and cold temperatures, warming up today to create a slushy mess for Christmas eve. Tomorrow I'll be flying to Utah to see my family.
The release candidate of STL 1.2 is in final testing. This release will allow you to post your steps directly to MapMyWalk.com, which will let you track your activity, convert steps to distance, and share your fitness activities with other users of one of the most popular…

Hey, STL users!.
There was some badness with the site yesterday. As far as I know this was a Ning-wide server issue that has now been resolved, but if you notice any lingering problems with the StepTrakLite community please let me know.
Cheers,
Rich

I'm in LA for business today. We just closed a substantial sale of our
FitAWare corporate fitness incentives product with a company who's brand everyone knows. (Watch for the press release soon). I'm staying in Glendale tonight, and will be heading off to the Bay Area tomorrow. Yes, I'll be visiting Cupertino. No, I can't say anything about why I might be visiting Cupertino. :)
I don't suppose anyone has suggestions for fun things to do in Glend…

So, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the new version - V1.1.1 - featuring a bugfix for the hanging problem, is now available in the AppStore. The bad news is that it is still flagged at V1.1, so update notification is not being provided. To get the new version, just delete your current executable and redownload.
